about
"What’s In Your Head is a slow burn...a low and moody riff creeps unassumingly into your consciousness, adding cymbals and a muted growl of a vocal, then, boom. An almighty clattering thunder – pounding drums, crashing cymbals, rumbling bass and screaming thrashing guitars take over with a primal scream howled over the top...building to its climactic peak of frustrated screaming and the clamouring fracas of noise." - Louder Than War, 2020
"From quarantine to the middle of a war zone, 'What's in Your Head' is intense...It feels like it’s all building to something...We find out when the words “what’s in your head” are screamed...punk-rock is alive and well." - Independent Music News, 2020
"This is a kick in the face that you’ll be happy to take... it is slow and calculated, but chaotic and hard-hitting at the same time. A perfect storm if you will...a mantra-like phrase repeats about yearning to know what someone is thinking, but grudgingly knowing that you won’t know the answer...get to know; these guys rock." - Getintothis, 2020
‘What’s In Your Head’ is an unsettling, heavy punk song that lures the listener in with enticing grooves, and kicks them in the face with drastic dynamic changes. The song differs in feel to their last single ‘Zipper Mouth’, slowing down the pace and exploring different beats, however still retaining their punk roots and sound.
Recorded and produced by Ding Archer at 6dB Studios in their hometown of Manchester, ‘What’s In Your Head’ is a mantra-like song about longing to know what someone is thinking, but reluctantly accepting that you’ll never know. This is heavily outlined in the choruses, where a climactic, powerful scream explodes into your ear exclaiming the frustration of human interaction, along with ear-splittingly distorted guitars, and frenzied, technical drums; where all the noises combined truly hit you like a brick wall, and leave you disorientated.
‘What’s In Your Head’ preserves Manalishi’s signature sound of huge dynamic changes, raw vocals and distorted instruments to keep listeners on their toes, but still sees the band experiment with elements of other genres and musicality, showing the band are not a punk rock 'one trick pony’.
lyrics
I wish I knew
I wish I knew
I wish I knew
What's in your head
What's in your head
I never knew
I never knew
I never knew
What's in your head
What's in your head
What's in your head
No I never never knew
What's in your head

Manalishi are a guttural plethora of raw energy, F*** you attitude, and spontaneity.
With a crunching
fusion of noisy, punk rock; and a disillusion for the conventional, they merge captivating melodies with a rib-punching wall of sound and melancholic chords, complete with unpolished, squealing guitars, and the disgusting scars to prove it.
